I made waffles for dinner a few weeks ago and then I made pancakes for dinner on Monday. Each time I've done this, Carter has been upset about not being able to put the eggs in the bowl.
Fast forward to this morning. The boys always get up before we do. I don't get out of bed until I have to. 8:00-8:30ish. So the kids watch tv and play until we get down there. Which is fine most days. However...
...THIS morning, Trenton came into our room and announced that Carter had made a mess in the kitchen. I sat up. Now, Carter making a mess is NOT a brand new thing. He is pretty much a tiny tornado of destruction leaving a wake of discarded toys (and sometimes my car keys) in his wake. But it was the kitchen bit that got me. That's a tad more unusual. So I asked, "With what?"
Trenton said, "Eggs."
About that time, amid Scott and I groaning the parental, "good GAWD" groan, Carter BURST into our room. He threw himself through the doors, mismatched oven mitts on each hand, and announced by way of explaination that, "when you crack the egg, the waffles come out."
I sat in bewilderment while Scott laughed like a hysterical woman. Carter was so wide eyed and earnest, we couldn't possibly be mad. He just wanted some waffles or pancakes. And his assessment of my cooking apparently boiled down to me cracking open some waffle eggs.
Upon coming downstairs expecting eggs to be all over the floor, we discovered Carter had done a far better job mimicing me than I'd thought. He pulled the trash can over next to the stove to throw the shells in and had positioned a skillet over a (thankfully cool) burner and had even gotten 2 eggs into the skillet. One with an intact yolk. However, the other eggs hadn't faired so well and were creating a goey egg ocean all over the stove top. But since I was now rushing out the door to get the kids to school in time for breakfast (pitfall of sleeping in every day), I let Scott take care of clean up. ::giggle::
So I guess I'm stopping for eggs on the way home so those kids can have their waffle fix. I'll also be storing the eggs much higher in the fridge from now on.

Oh my goodness, I'm still laughing ...Way to go, Carter!!!
