Christmas Eve, we went to my brother's for dinner. My parents were there also. Richard, his partner, made the most delicious mexican dinner ever. SOOOOOO good. Carter, at some point in the evening, attached himself to Richard. Richard got stuck playing ninja turtles longer than he probably would have liked, lol. After that we played the most offensive, horrible, hilarious game EVER. Cards Against Humanity. It's not for the faint of heart. It's BAD. Like, really horrible. But it's hysterical. Good food, lots of laughing, good night.
So Christmas day came and went without much of any... anything by us. Trenton was with his dad, so we don't celebrate until he comes home. Santa had come, of course, so we let Carter open his stocking, but told him we had to wait for bubba to open gifts. He was 100% ok with it. :) He loves his bubba. And, I should mention, it snowed. A lot. Big snowflakes and heavy snow. The ground was too warm for it to stick hardcore, but it was still several inches when it was all said and done.
So today, the 26th, we got T back at noon. Since I had some time, I decided to do my traditional day after Christmas decoration sale shopping. I always hit Garden Ridge for some sort of cool decor for the next year. This year I got 2 new outdoor inflatables. One sparkly snow globe and one animated carasel. And a new tree. And some other random stuff. But. The parking lot was completely iced over. One solid sheet. I was the ONLY car in the parking lot for a sale that usually clears the racks in minutes. So long story short, I fell, had to be carried into the store, thought my ankle was broken, and this was all before I went into the store. And then I had to call Scott to come get me when I couldn't get back to the car because the parking lot is sloped upward. I tried, with my big basket, to get up the iced hill and to my car, but when it occured to me that if I ever did get there without falling and possibly hurting my baby, I'd have to unload all the heavy things in my cart. The employees had loaded it all for me since I was practically alone in the store and my ankle was throbbing.
So, Scott and Carter came to my rescue. Then Scott picked up Trenton and we celebrated and opened gifts. SOOOO nice. Everyone had to say something they were thankful for before they could open their gift. Carter just kinda repeated what Trenton said... sometimes correctly, sometimes with an odd twist. I think he branched off several times and there was mention of taking the guinea pig we're babysitting to the zoo. :I lol. Then the boys played with their newfound treasures. Trenton wanted to go outside. He'd wanted a white Christmas so badly. I was excited he was getting it. But it turns out they were at his dad's parents Christmas night and it didn't snow there. At all. :/ So he went to play in the snow.
Eventually, Scott started a fire and ordered some pizza and we settled in with some hot chocolate and watched a movie. Perfect. :) I'm excited to spend the next few days with the kids at home. We don't go do Christmas with my family until Saturday, so we still have some lingering Christmas spirit and an excuse to play Christmas music and eat Christmas cookies and whatnot for a few more days.
