Fast Forward to Now...

I have been terrible... TERRIBLE... at keeping up with this.  But.  Good grief, I've got 3 kids, for crying out loud.  Gimme a break.  :)  For my own personal sanity, I've promised myself a post at least once a week.  I love going back and looking at blogs from when Carter was a baby and Trenton was younger.  It's such a great way to jot down whatever's going on at the time because it's easy to forget these things in the whirlwind of crazy that is everyday life.

Tanner
So, Tanner is 5 months old today.  I can't believe that!!  Yesterday was Father's Day.  Which is funny because it was LAST Father's Day that I found out I was pregnant and wrapped up a positive pregnancy test as Scott's last Father's Day gift.  That baby boy is so big and sweet and loves his family.  Most of all, his mommy.  He gets in moods (mostly when he's tired) and no one but me will do.  Which is as heart warming as it is exhausting.  Because while it's nice to be wanted, sometimes I just want to finish my dinner or be able to pee without feeling the rush of an upset, screaming baby.  But those big watery eyes smush my soul into submission.  Poor baby.

He hasn't rolled over yet.  But he can.  I've watched him roll almost all the way over, then get distracted by one older brother or another and flop back onto his back.  He smiles and laughs though.  He's so sweet and laid back.  He adores his brothers and watches them intently while they inflict their wild nature on the world around them.  Actually, Trenton talks and sings to him.  Carter yells and bounces around in his face.  Both of which Tanner loves.

He also loves being sung to.  Sometimes, when he wakes up in the middle of the night, I can cease crying and turning the resulting smiles back into sleep just by singing some Phillip Phillips or Maroon 5 or anything else high pitched and soft.

Speaking of sleep, this child of will, does not sleep on his back.  He HAS to sleep on an incline.  And if he doesn't, no one sleeps.  This means he sleeps in his swing on most occasions.  Which is fine, since we're trying to pack everything up and put it in storage, because that means we don't need the crib, but still... it's costing us a fortune in batteries for that swing.  :)

Carter
Carter (and Tanner) go to a local church's weekday school.  Carter is doing soooo well.  ALL the teachers tell me how sweet he is.  And he really is a sweetheart.  He's just also a wild child, lol.  He loves splash day and learning new songs.

A few weeks ago he had his first program where the school sang songs about Jesus and love.  It was precious.  He loves his teacher and told another teacher that he thought Ms. Regina was so pretty, lol.  Little flirt.  He loves taking random toys to show n' tell (giant clown glasses, train whistle, police car toy).

And that kid says the most random things.  Like on the way to school the other day, this conversation happened:

Carter: You know, there are good pranks and bad pranks.
Me: Oh?  What's a bad prank?
Carter: Someone pulling someone's pants down and pushing them down the stairs so they go "oh.eee.ow.ouff" all the way down.
Me: That IS bad!  What's a good prank?
Carter: Just pulling someone's pants down.
Me: oh dear...

Trenton
A 5th grader.  His last year in elementary school.  That seems so crazy to me.  No one tells you that when you have babies, they don't stay those needy little bundles of cooing grins and snuggles.  They actually grow up.  Into real people.  Luckily, the person Trenton's grown into, despite my youth and inexperience, is a smart, sensitive, sweet, empathetic little man that I couldn't be more proud of.  My biggest problems with him are his talking at school and his not listening... which is simply a male trait.  There are WAY worse things I could be dealing with.  I feel so blessed that he is who he is.

He's such a good big brother.  He was to Carter and now is to both his little brothers.  He's so sweet with them.  I love watching him interact with those kiddos.

He's 2 weeks away from being 10 years old.  I've been his mom for a decade.  It feels like a lifetime and a split second simultaneously, somehow.  His birthday party is coming up and I'm hoping it's super special.  10 years is a big birthday, in my opinion.
