Tren10

Yesterday, my oldest baby turned 10.  TEN!!  I've been a mommy for a decade!  Still so unbelievable.

Saturday, the 29th, we had his birthday party.  We privately rented the Tom Muehlenbeck Center outdoor pool/slide area after hours.  It was nice to not have a zillion stranger running around and Trenton and his friends didn't have wait in line for the slide, they had full use of the water volleyball net and water basketball hoop whenever they please, and the little kid splash area wasn't crowded so little brother, Carter and our friends younger kids had the run of that place.  It was nice.

It had a Dragon theme, because that's what Trenton loves right now.  Dragons of all sorts.  I had dragon eggs (which 2 of Trenton's friends begged to take home when I tried to throw them away, lol) and various dragons guarding the food while we swam and played.  Of course, these dragons were part of Trenton's gift, too.  They did a TERRIBLE job of guarding the food.  I don't know when it happened, because everyone seemed to be swimming the whole time, but most of the food was gone by the party's end.  Which, in truth, is fabulous.  I hate taking the leftovers home.

Anyway, I didn't want to take away from swimming time for cake eating.  We had the place rented from 6:30 to 8:30, but we had to be GONE at 8:30 so they were going to get us out of the pool to gather our things at 8:15.  I just had them pull everyone out 10 minutes early, at 8:05, so we could sing and pass out favors.  I'd made individual cakes for all the kids in mason jars so that instead of missing swimming time, they could take cake home with them.  It worked out well, I think.  It was a pain in the butt to make, but 24 jars of cake later, I think it was better than having a regular birthday cake at a swim party.  Easier for everyone.

Trenton had a blast and loved seeing his school friends.  Everyone seemed to have a good time.

Back at home, he sat and opened all his gifts.  He got so much cash and gift cards!  I'm jealous!  And he got some really cool gifts.  I want to play with some of them.  I think he might have been most excited about the Sea Monkeys he got from Isabella, lol.  So funny!  But LOTS of great stuff.  Carter is just aching to get his hands on it, lol.  Poor Trenton didn't want to leave it all behind when he went to his dads.

The not quite finished table.  There were inflatable dragons and such.  Sadly, there's no picture of my finished creation

You can kinda see one of the inflatable dragons hidden by the table.  :/  lol

Like having your own personal waterpark

Too little for the group pic so hamming it up afterward.

I just stuck candles in one of the cake jars.  Whatever works!  :)

A tablet.  Scott doesn't even have one, lol.

Cool dragon watch his mom (and family) got him.  ;)

Scary.
