I just want cheap stuff...

Let's talk gifts!  Because that's not rude or anything....  :)

Ok, so I'm not sure why this amuses me so, but I did the whole registry thing in the last week.  I am lucky enough to have 4 {beautiful, thoughtful, creative, amazing} of my most wonderful friends throwing me a shower in a few months {and I am SOOOOO appreciative as we have NOTHING left as far as baby gear}.  I am a bit.... how do I say neurotic nicely?... psycho about the shower/registry stuff.  Not in what I'm getting, but in making sure the balance of price and function vs. fun is there for anyone generous enough to get baby Durb something in the way of a gift.

While I love shopping for babies, I know everyone doesn't.  In my case, I'd MUCH rather shop for a baby shower than a birthday or wedding shower.  It's just easier.  Maybe that's 9+ years of mom experience, but it's easier for me to pick out a necessary item for a baby shower {and no, most of those expensive, silly things like a wiper warmer is NOT a necessity, but that's another blog}, than try to determine what Joe the 5-year old may be into and want for his birthday.  Or maybe baby stuff is just so cute.  It's all little n' stuff.

ANYWAY, as much as I love baby shopping, registry lists are the WORST.  It's so hard to find what you want.  Even if you do the preshopping prep.  I typically find 1 - 3 things within a price range I want to spend and look for only those things so I don't get overwhelmed.  Why can't target put pictures on the list?!  Pictures are easy!  Vague descriptions and codes with 4,000 numbers in them are NOT easy.  :/  Ugh!

So I keep these frustrations in mind and register for stuff I think/hope/pray people can find easily.  I also keep $$$ in mind.  I mean, come on!  Some of these things are stupidly expensive!  And some people might not like me $50 worth or $25 worth or even $5, lol.  When I registered, I decided if I wouldn't buy it, I wouldn't register for it.  Then end.  And I THINK I did ok {I'll know soon.  I've asked a friend to review my registries, lo1!}

But at the end, I did a price breakdown of my Target registry and it compared my registry to the average registry.  It made me giggle.  My numbers, comparitively, after leaving the $30 range are substancially lacking, lol.  I guess that makes me a cheapskate.  But... you're welcome shower attendees!
