Happy FIRST Birthday, Tanner!

Tanner's ONE!  I can't believe it!  January 17th was little man's very first birthday.  So hard to believe that it was a year  ago that I went in for a sonogram to see how big my baby was (they WRONGLY guess 7 pounds).  They noticed my fluid level was low.  REALLY low.  They said anything under 10 meant baby today.  Mine was 6.  I have a sonogram picture of his little face THE DAY he was born.  So crazy.  So I called my husband and my boss and drove to the hospital.  What a wild day.  What I remember most was 1) my epidural wearing off COMPLETELY around 9 centimeter and their stuggle to get it under control, 2) puking, repeatedly while in labor (miserable) 3) Trenton being moved to happy tears when he saw Tanner for the first time and 4) Carter's first comment being "What happens if I poke it?".

So Tanner's birthday was the 17th and his party was the 25th.  I'll tell you about both, but first, a few birthday boy photos.

I know.  He's the cutest thing EVER.  Seriously.  Plus, he SO sweet.  He's the happiest little nugget.  He just wants to talk to you and listen to you sing Itsy Bitsy Spider.  Such a sweetheart.

Ok, so on his actual birthday, he had to go to school for a bit because I had to work, but I put on his cute ONE shirt and made sure everyone there knew it was his special day.  I got off a little early so we could go to an early dinner as a family since Trenton had to go to his father's house later that evening.  We went to IHOP because it's quick and easy and Tanner loves eggs and pancakes.  Then we just hung out.  We sang to him, of course, which he loved.

Then, this past Saturday (the 25th), we had his first birthday party.  It was at the house, super low key, not many people invited.  Just some key people and food.  Nacho bar, snacks, chitchat and bubbles and music to keep the kids busy.  It was a MONSTER party.  I didn't get a picture of all the decor, but it was super fun and cute.  I drew monsters on the sidewalk leading up to the house (at 8am while it was 30 degrees outside), made and crafted all the monster stuff with the exception of the amazing cake.  My friend made that and it came out SPECTACULAR!  She's fabulous.  And she had some extra cake pop monster eyes that she brought along for general consumption. SOOOO good.

These are soooo good.  Smore with no fire!  Marshmallow cream, grahm crackers and dipped in chocolate.

Jello Monsters!  (or Jelly Monsters, if you ask Carter)

Tanner sized Monster balloon.  LOVE!

Monster Water (monster duct tape)

THE CAKE!

Bubbles!  I put the bubble machine on the second floor and let it rain down on the kids.  So fun.  Tanner LOVES bubbles.

I guess he got bored while we were singing?  Haha!

I had to remove the balloons because they were SO distracting.  Which, of course, made him cry.  Go mom!

First taste of cake!!!

Happiest of Happy Birthdays, little monster.  Mommy loves you so very much!  You make my heart happy and our family whole.  Kisses and hugs, baby sweetness.
