It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas was so hectic this year.  I feel like it was so rushed.  Maybe because Thanksgiving was later than usual.  I don't know.  I just feel like time super limited.  And I finished my shopping EARLY.  Before Thanksgiving.

So, Carter had a School Christmas program.  SOOOO cute.  I love when they sing Happy Birthday to Jesus.  Carter's been singing it for WEEKS, so I knew it was coming, but it's still so special to be sitting in the church sanctuary and hear your kiddo singing to Jesus.  :)  It makes my heart so happy.  He really grasps, finally, that Christmas is about Jesus being born.  It's such a big deal when they get old enough to GET it, instead of just repeat what they may have hear without grasping it fully.

Happy Birthday, Jesus!!!  Thank you so much, Lord, for loving us enough to send us your Son, so that we might be saved.  I pray the celebration of Christmas never overshadow the subject, your ultimate sacrifice.

Anyhoo, we went to see Santa before Christmas.  It was Tanner's first time.  Tanner wasn't thrilled with this fuzzy stranger, but he was more comfortable with him than Carter ever was.  Carter always HATED Santa.  He isn't his biggest fan now, lol.  But he no longer screams and cries.  He's just... weary.  In fact, he didn't sit in his lap this year.  He wanted me to tell Santa what he wanted.  Lol.  Luckily, there was a rocking chair in the set and Carter sat on that so we were able to get Carter close enough to Santa to take a picture with everyone.  Trenton has always loved Santa.  And strangers.  Except, Trenton never met a stranger.  He loved everyone.  :)

Then the holiday was upon us!  We have a tradition of going out and looking at Christmas lights.  This year, we were going to walk through Addison's Vitruvian Lights, but it was so cold, we had to change plans.  So instead, we drove to Santa Land.  Yes, 2 hours away near Tyler.  But oh my gosh.  It was spectacular!  The boys loved it!  The end was really neat with the set up about Christ's birth, life, and eventual death for our salvation.  I loved it.  Worth the trip, in my opinion.  And while I've heard the line to get in can reach monstrous amounts, we didn't wait more than 15 or 20 minutes before we were in the park.  Probably because it was Christmas Eve.  But at any rate, I recommend it.

So, awoke we did on Christmas morning.  I was expecting little hands jostling me awake, but I woke up on my own.  I found the kids downstairs in Trenton's room watching tv.  Scott has told then they couldn't go in the living room (where Santa leaves gifts) until we got up.  ::rolls eyes::  Poor kids.

Before each gift, the kids had to say something they were thankful for.  Again, Carter saying he was thankful for his family and Jesus... my heart burst into a poof of happiness.

SO we immediately flocked to the tree to see what, if anything, the kids had gotten from Santa and to open the rest of the gifts.  They got zillions of things, but the most notable favorite items were:

Trenton:
Pokémon Soul Silver & Pokewalker
Tablet
Several DS games he wanted
Mini fridge for his room

Carter:
"The big plane"
Lots of Leo (the ninja turtle) items (dream lite, arm shooter, pillow, sweatshirt, slippers)
Tool Belt
Boom Boom Balloon game

Tanner:
Giant giraffe
Red car
Socks

Here's a couple of pictures.  Of course, there were hundreds of photos.  But I won't bog you down with that.  :)

Then we went to Nana and Popaw's house were the kids proceeded to get even more awesome stuff, we got money (hurray!).  We drank mimosas, made fun of my brother who's decided that he's vegan now, ate dinner and lazed around for awhile before heading back home.  Such a great day.  I love how relaxed Christmas is with my family.  It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
