Moving on

So, we moved.  We've been in our new house for less than 2 weeks, but I absolutely love it.  But, I want to back up a bit.  Because leaving the house we had lived in was hard.  A lot harder than I thought it would be.

I prepared for it.  I knew it was going to happen.  Several weeks before we closed, I kept finding myself thinking about whatever random milestone or memory had happened there and I'd lose my breath.  Just for a moment.  But We're talking about the very place I met my husband.  The place we decided to spend forever together.  Where I took several positive pregnancy tests.  Where I had an early 2nd trimester miscarriage that broke my heart.  The place where we brought both Carter and Tanner home from the hospital.  All the Christmases and birthdays.  Trenton's first day of school.  First steps and first words.  Snow days.  Movie nights.  Bunco with some awesome friends.  The kids laughing and playing.  Fireplace smores.  The friendships made with the kids on the street.  And so on and so forth.

This house, regardless of how badly and how long I'd wanted to get out, had woven itself into our family.  And it hurt me to walk away from it.  I cried.  When Scott locked the back door from the inside and got ready to close it for the last time, I stood by the loaded truck and my heart was in my throat.  We'd outgrown it.  We wanted something different.  Newer, bigger, nicer.  But, my life, most of the biggest, best parts of it, had happened there.

So, goodbye Plano house!  I hope my good memories live on like spirits in your walls.

When we brought Carter home, we didn't have a bassinet and I was scared to sleep with him next to me.  I got over that, but that very first night, he slept in a laundry basket on the floor in this spot, with Scott on the floor next to him.

Now.  New house stuff.  I'm so excited to get all of our new furniture.  Scott and I finally upgraded to a king and got a new, luxury mattress that we are SUPER excited to get.  Ours is awful and is painful to sleep on, at this point.  Or we're just old.  I guess we'll see soon!  :D  Showroom picture of the new bed we ordered.
